In May, the second annual SUPERCOPA+ tournament hosted by U90C Sports, took place with 96 teams in the U12-U16 age groups. The invitation-only event featured teams representing 47 of the top clubs from across 20 states at the Tournament SportsPlex in Tampa, Florida.
Branded as ‘America’s Championship’, SUPERCOPA+ brings together an elite collection of talent on both the boys’ and girls’ sides. This year’s tournament was highlighted by an array of teams with membership in top leagues such as MLS NEXT, ECNL Boys ECNL Girls and the Girls Academy (GA).
The event created opportunities for teams not only from different leagues to play against each other, but there was a deliberate effort to create matchups between sides from a wide range of geographic regions.
“SUPERCOPA+ 2023 was a huge success,” said SUPERCOPA+ Girls Selection Committee Chairman Jeff Stanley. “Being in only its second year, not only did we see the team count and representation from various leagues go up, but also the number of states represented, so that is a definite sign to us that the event is gaining more traction as we head into planning for the 2024 event.”
This year’s tournament included a slight adjustment in their scheduling, adopting a Friday-Monday schedule to further incorporate the Memorial Day weekend, and to avoid pulling players from school. Much like other SuperCopa events, the SUPERCOPA+ tournament employs a group stage followed by knockout rounds. For each age group there is a reseeding after Group Play.
“During this year’s knockout rounds we had 48 of the 75 games with a 1 goal differential to determine advancement, with 22 of those going to overtime and 7 eventually resulting in a PK Shootout,” said Stanley. “This format always lends itself to some fantastic matches during the ‘win or go home’ rounds over the last 2 days of the event.”
Putting on a tournament is never easy and requires a high level of coordination amongst not just staff and officials, but also the teams themselves.
“I think the highest accolades should go to all the coaches, players, and parents who took part in SUPERCOPA+ 2023 and understand the premise and benefits of the event, which is to compete against top-level talent from across the nation, no matter what your league affiliation may be,” said Stanley. “Ultimately, it’s their desire to compete at the highest level and their dedication to the sport that makes for a successful event. So, a huge thank you to all the coaches, players, and parents that made SUPERCOPA+ 2023 a success. We are already looking forward to SUPERCOPA+ 2024!”

If there was one word used to describe Premier SuperCopa 2020, it would be resilience. Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, the location and date of the tournament was moved to ensure the safety of the competitors, coaches, family, fans and staff. Originally, SuperCopa was set to take place in Cincinnati, OH in mid-June. After careful consideration and in-compliance with local health guidelines, SuperCopa was moved to September 4-7 in Dallas, TX. Logistical changes did not stop teams from traveling from across the country and Mexico to compete for the chance to claim Premier SuperCopa glory, as the 2020 tournament showcased the top-tier talent of nearly 100 U9-U12 Boys & Girls squads from 50 different clubs across 16 different states and Mexico. Family & fans that weren’t able to make the trip were able to view all of the action online, as FloFC provided live broadcasts throughout the entire weekend.
Although social distancing guidelines limited SuperCopa’s ability to host the annual Coaches Social, Members Party, Bracket Reveal & the TeamFirst Player’s Clinic, the atmosphere at MoneyGram Soccer Park was still electric from the first whistle on Friday to the crowning of champions on Monday. The tournament proved that no matter what, SuperCopa strives to host the most diverse competition available for U9-U12 boys & girls teams in the country. Thus, living up to its reputation as “America’s championship”; and reminding everyone that with a bit of resiliency, hard work, positivity & trust, no circumstance is insurmountable.
2020 was a Premier SuperCopa that will never be forgotten due to the hurdles that no one could have predicted. On Monday afternoon as champion’s hoisted their trophies and cheers echoed throughout the park, it was, as it always is, worth all of the hard work to create those lifelong memories for players, coaches, families & fans. We ALL have what it takes!

Boys Weekend & Girls Weekend, Girls U13 Division, 9v9 for U10 Divisions
U90C is pleased to announce the combining of the boys and girls divisions under the single brand of Premier SuperCopa. The pilot launch of Premier SuperCopa G with a scaled back team count in 2015 enabled a proof of concept solidifying that both genders’ events will bring overwhelming success long term.
Premier SuperCopa for 2016 and will host a boys tournament weekend and a girls tournament weekend immediately following. The boys tournament continues to host the U9-U12 age divisions while the girls tournament will add the U13 age division starting in 2016. In addition, the tournament committee is only offering the 9v9 format for the U10 age division to better align with the new USSF directive towards smaller sided soccer.
“The last 3 tournaments have been amazing from start to finish. The competition is ridiculously good. The structure, organization and professionalism of the event is the best I’ve ever been associated with in 25 years of youth coaching.
You guys truly have it figured out and have provided my group with 3 years of “Soccer Memories” that they will never forget.“
— Kris Plumhoff, KC Fusion, Lenexa, Kansas
“As a father of 4 travel soccer players over the past 15 years, I have been too many top level tournaments that do not live up to the hype. Dallas Premier Super Copa is without a doubt the leading player’s tournament in the country with the best competition, highest skilled players, and fantastic format of any tournament I have ever attended. What is special about this tournament is the effort it takes to qualify out of your bracket to enter the Premier Super Copa field of 8… Dallas Premier Super Copa is the benchmark for all tournaments and every team should aspire to participate in this event.“

Membership Patches, SuperCopa G
The Premier SuperCopa continues to gain popularity and momentum following the June 2014 tournament. Despite many requests to offer older boy’s divisions, SuperCopa continues the commitment to offer the only national championship level tournament in the United States that focuses on and honors the youngest teams. With the world-wide strength of the US Women’s National Team, Premier SuperCopa will add U9 through U12 Girls divisions for 2015. The 2015 tournament dates coincide with the Women’s World Cup allowing the event to include activities surrounding the World Cup and illustrating to these young girls the exciting path now available to women in soccer. As with the boys the event begins smaller, accepting only 16 teams per age group with the expectation to expand to match the boys 24 teams in 2016.
“Thank you for a great tournament. On behalf of the Pateadores, we appreciate all of the hard work your team put into running a top notch tournament.”
— Matt Swindle, Pateadores Soccer Club, Irvine, CA
The demand created by in the inaugural Dallas Premier SuperCopa led to its doubling in size with the addition of U11 and U12 boys age groups for 2014. This was due to the U10 teams of 2013 insisting on having further opportunities to attend the tournament. Premier SuperCopa remains an invitation only tournament with teams chosen mostly by the SuperCopa Selection Committee, and the 4 game format with reseeding for playoffs is firmly in tact. Over 200 teams applied to the tournament, but acceptance is limited to the top 24 teams in each age group, thus guaranteeing an experience well worth each team’s time and financial commitment. These teams are known as the Elite24 signifying their position as one of the top 24 teams in their age group in the United States.
“The Dallas Premier SuperCopa tournament is without a doubt is the best tournament in the country for top level teams that want to have exposure to a professional environment. Playing against MLS Academy Teams and watching the pros at the MLS game was an experience of a lifetime for all our players and families. Just an amazing overall quality!”
— Jose Londono, TSC Boys Academy Director
Premier SuperCopa began in Dallas, Texas in 2013 with the goal of providing a tournament with the highest level of competition combined with the most diverse team selection in the United States for U9 and U10 boys. Teams this young had never traveled this far, but this group of “The Original 48” SuperCopa teams had a superior experience creating demand that led teams to begin requesting acceptance to the 2014 event while the 2013 event was still in progress.
The mission of Premier SuperCopa is unique in that it focuses solely on the young, developing teams throughout the country who are playing soccer at a spectacularly high level for their age. It is the only tournament with a nation-wide reach which only includes U9 through U12 teams. Everything offered, on and off the field, at Premier SuperCopa is designed specifically with this age group in mind; there is the experience of an elite player but surrounded by only others your age. Teams have the tactical challenge of playing 11v11 soccer (U10-U12) on excellent field conditions but with sizes adjusted slightly to be age appropriate. Most SuperCopa teams struggle to find competition in their local leagues and find that their development receives a boost from 4-6 games of evenly matched competition. Premier SuperCopa guarantees teams a 4 game minimum. 3 group round games are played within brackets of 4, and all teams advance to quarter final playoffs. Before beginning quarter finals teams are re-bracketed into 3 groups of 8 (SuperCopa, Silver, and Bronze groups) based on their point totals from their group games. Quarter finals then begin with each bracket of 8 teams ensured to be grouped in similar levels, and quarters, semis, and finals are played to declare a champion in the SuperCopa, Silver, and Bronze divisions. This format provides for 4 games for all teams, 5 games for 50% of the teams, and 6 games for 25% of the teams. Travel is expensive, and Premier SuperCopa offers the maximum soccer possible.
“The SuperCopa playoff format was great, as we played pretty much 3 one goal games in our preliminary round but would not have advanced (the team the won the supercopa came from our group). But due to the format were able to go on and win one of the playoff brackets. And for teams coming a long way it makes it worth the trip.”
— John, Canton Celtics Soccer Club
